A junior college is often an excellent education option for tons of students today. There can be many reasons to decide to attend a junior college. Junior colleges, also known as community colleges, are two year colleges that will place you on the right educational track. Remember they exist to help you advance in your schooling, and this web page will outline the ways in which they can help you advance.
Open-door Admissions. One of the great things about community colleges is that they usually have an open-door admission policy. Perhaps you underachieved in high school, or you went to a year of a four-year college and didn't do so well. Most junior college programs will give you another chance at continuing your advanced education.
Transfer Program. Perhaps you couldn't make it into the 4-year college of your choice. Often, you can enter a junior college as a freshman, complete one or two years of courses, then transfer to a four-year college or university. In this way, a junior college is an excellent launching pad--it is a way to prove your college-worthiness to the bigger schools, and thus continue your higher education.
Terminal Program. You have your career picked out and you know that all you need is a two-year Associate's Degree. A junior college will give you the training and education you need for that particular career; you can graduate quickly then enter the work force, moving on with your life. Community colleges are excellent ones for teaching specialized occupations.
