Pharmacists earn $50,000-$100,000 per year, although they often work irregular hours. A license to practice pharmacy is required for all pharmacists. There are many pharmacy courses and programs available that will provide you with a pharmacy degree and license.
How to Become a Licensed Pharmacist. To obtain a pharmacy license, you must graduate from a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) , website www.acpe-accredit.org , and pass an examination. All states require the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX), and all states except for California require the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE). Both exams are administered by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) , website www.nabp.net . A pharmacist in California must pass the California Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam in place of the MPJE. Some states require pharmacist to pass additional exams unique to their state, in addition to the NAPLEX and MPJE. Once you have taken the pharmacy schooling and passed the proper pharmacy examinations, you are ready to enter the pharmacy occupation.
