Private Degrees

Private schooling is growing in popularity in the US . Earning a private degree is becoming more of a viable option for many students and professionals going back to school. The term private education is used to refer to a variety of types of private schooling.

One is private colleges (vs. public colleges). Another is obtaining private degrees from online private schools and colleges. A third is private elementary and secondary (high school) schooling. Because this is a college website, I will be talking about the first two examples of private schooling.

Private Colleges. A private college is one owned and managed by a private group, instead of being owned and run by the government. Many of the huge and prestigious colleges in our country are private colleges, such as Stanford University , Columbia , NYU, Harvard, Yale, and USC, to name just a few. Private colleges have the freedom to set their own rules, charge whatever tuition they want, pay their professors whatever they want, and teach whatever curriculums they want. There is a perception that the quality of education at a private college is superior to public colleges; this is debatable.
